Gary from Washington

          Gary from Washington

I'm 27 years old, Indian by heritage, and was born with spina bifida that put me on wheelchair for life. When I first came to America, besides the fact I was on the wheelchair, I didn’t know any English and would get bullied around in school- for example getting called names like “cripple” and being pushed around on the wheelchair or getting flipped over in hall ways in school. It went on for 2 years till I sharpened up my English and got myself together and stopped caring what people think and stuck up for myself.
Today my life is completely turned around.  I proved to people there isn’t anything I can't do that they can. I drive a car and I have friends and a good social and private life. Bravery to me is someone who doesn’t give a damn about what other people think how they look at you. It’s about how you look at yourself and know who you are and what you are capable of. The sky is the limit and nothing is impossible.
